After a year of planning, organising and hard work on July 10 the recently opened “Titanic Exhibition Centre” in Belfast opened its doors for the first “Japanese Car Culture” automotive show; it was the first and only indoor car show exclusive to Japanese car manufacturers. Despite the depressing Irish weather hundreds of cars turned up on Sunday morning with more than 3000 spectators walking through the exhibition centre doors. It was a real eye-opener, showcasing how big and popular the Japanese Car Culture really is here in the north and south of Ireland.

One doesn’t become a great racer; one is born a great racer.

Road Racing is a sport for the most fearless, insane and fastest riders in the world; it is as exciting and spectacular as it is dangerous. Danger is lurking around every corner of the track; the riders risk everything, pushing their bikes at speeds above 200 mph on public roads, and  all this risk for what: to claim that top spot of the podium or is there more to it? This dangerous race with the death is criticized by many; however, for riders it is their life, and without that there is nothing left.

UNDER THE TREE

In the current times where the car scene reminds me of an episode of Eastenders or Big Brother, it’s nice to see that there are still shows out there, where people can get along with each other, relax and enjoy the car scene for what it is. There’s no better show for that than the annual “GTINI Castlewellan” held on the grounds of the stunning forest park of Castlwellan, Northern Ireland.

Rally d’Italia returned to the beautiful island of Sardinia over June 10-12, where the young Belgium duo of Thierry Neuville and co-driver Nicolas Gilsoul were unstoppable over the weekend, claiming the top spot of the podium in their Hyundai Motorsport i20.
